Government approval ratings remain unchanged: 71% of the population views the cabinet’s performance negatively

A month after the last survey, the ratings of the Government led by Social Democrat Inga Ruginienė remain unchanged – 71.2% of the population evaluates the Cabinet of Ministers' activities negatively, according to the latest survey conducted by the public opinion and market research company Spinter Tyrimai, commissioned by Delfi.

As the survey results show, 29.4% of respondents assessed the government's activities negatively in March, and 41.8% of residents did so.
In February, the proportion of respondents who assessed the government negatively was higher (34.4%), and 36.8% of the population assessed the cabinet of ministers negatively.
The activities of the cabinet of ministers led by Ruginienė were positively assessed by 18.4% of respondents (in February, 20%). At the same time, another tenth (10.4%) of the population said that they did not know how to assess the work of the government, or did not answer the question. In February, 8.8% of those surveyed held such a position.
15.3% of the population would see Šimonytė as prime minister
During the survey conducted on March 18–28, residents were also asked which politician or public figure would be best suited to serve as prime minister. The largest share of residents – 15.3% – ​​believes that former Prime Minister, Conservative Ingrida Šimonytė, would be the most suitable for this position. In February, 15% of respondents thought so.
Next in the list of the most suitable persons for the position of prime minister are the leader of the Liberal Movement, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, whose rating rose from 5 to 7.8% over the month, and the current Head of Government, Ruginienė (in March – 7.5%, in February – 5.9%).
The top five most suitable candidates for the post of prime minister are completed by the leader of Nemunas Aušra, Remigijus Žemaitaitis (March – 4.9%, February – 5.7%) and the chairman of the Lithuanian Peasants and Greens Union (LVŽS), MEP Aurelijus Veryga (March – 3.2%, February – 3.9%).
In March, 3% of respondents said they believed that Laurynas Kasčiūnas, leader of the Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democrats (TS-LKD), would be the most suitable person to fill the post of prime minister (in February, 2.1%).
Next in line are Saulius Skvernelis (March – 2.3%, February – 2.5%) and Virginijus Sinkevičius (March – 2.2%, February – 1.9%). At the time of the survey, Skvernelis was still the chairman of the Democratic Union Vardan Lietuvos. Since Friday, MEP Sinkevičius has been temporarily holding this position.
The list of the most suitable persons to occupy the post of prime minister is completed by the chairman of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party (LSDP), Mindaugas Sinkevičius (2.1%), whose rating has not changed over the month, and Democrat Algirdas Butkevičius (1.9 per cent in March, 2.3% in February).
