Investments will amount to EUR 80 million
‘We are beginning to build a town like no other in Lithuania and the world. Altogether, this represents one of the largest investments in the Pamarys region, amounting to more than EUR 80 million. The project has been eagerly awaited by both the wind community and the region – in the first two weeks, we received more than 200 enquiries. We are building the Vėjo Miestelis on the shores of the Curonian Lagoon, surrounded by nature, and we plan to complete the first stage by the summer of next year, the beginning of the kitesurfing and sailing season’, says Arnas Bušmanas, Head of Urban WIND at SBA Urban, the company implementing the project.
According to A. Bušmanas, the first stage of the Vėjo Miestelis is a significant start for the entire 36-hectare site. SBA Urban plans to develop the whole project in five stages by 2031. In the first stage, public infrastructure – a park, sports grounds and green areas – will be developed alongside the residential area. In the second stage, another 36 residential units are planned to be put on the market. In the following stages, the „city within a city“ concept will be fully realised: a hotel, a co-working space, cafés, restaurants, and later on, SPA facilities and a marina will be built here.
The project concept and solutions have been developed with the wind community over several years. After implementing the first Vėjo Miestelis, the same concept will be adapted to countries such as Portugal, France and Spain. For this reason, according to A. Bušmanas, the requirements for the general contractor are exceptionally high – from the quality to the sustainability of the solutions.
From the first stage – a vibrant and bustling city
‘We are embarking on the Vėjo Miestelis project because there are only a handful of projects in Lithuania or the world with a similar concept. The ambitious project and the greenfield investment will create a shared and completely new infrastructure in a unique location on the Curonian Lagoon. However, our team is well prepared for it. This is not the first time we have partnered with SBA Urban, and we have a calibrated value foundation and the same high standard of quality, which is one of the most important criteria for success’, says Rolandas Kasperavičius, Head of UAB RNDV Statyba.
According to an RNDV representative, construction work on the first stage of the 4-ha site in Svencelė is already underway. Infrastructure installation works will be carried out first.
The first stage will consist of 25 individual A++ class two-storey houses, ranging from 53 to 94 m2. The homes for sale will be available with partial or complete finishing, priced from EUR 4 600/m2. They are now available for reservation.
From the very first stages, the aim is to keep the town vibrant and active in all seasons, so community spaces are being developed alongside the residential area – part of the central park with ponds, commercial spaces that will house cafes, shops, and specialised wind and water sports businesses. Tennis, paddle and basketball courts, sailing and kitesurfing schools will also be built during the first stage.
Unique project – a stimulus for the region
The Vėjo Miestelis is SBA Urban’s global project. It is designed for wind and water sports enthusiasts, who, united by common interests and activities, will build a community here, enjoying their entertainment, work or leisure time together. The project, which will cover a total area of 36 hectares, is projected to become a centre of attraction for extreme sports enthusiasts in Lithuania and will put the region on the global map of tourist and sports destinations. The project will also be an essential stimulus for the Pamarys region, as the new infrastructure will generate jobs and encourage residents and wind enthusiasts from Lithuania and abroad to discover the area.
