„From the outset, we established exceptionally high quality standards for the project. The centre was designed in line with the requirements of the BREEAM sustainability standard, with the goal of ensuring high-quality, sustainable construction while also providing maximum comfort for employees. That is why we can take pride in what is now one of the most modern projects of its kind in the Baltic States,“ says Sigita Survilaitė, CEO of Darnu Group.
The nearly 42,000-square-metre building was constructed on a 13-hectare site at Migūčionių g. 1A, near the A1 highway in Elektrėnai. The logistics centre is divided into two main areas—warehousing and a central kitchen—along with administrative office space.
A 1,000–1,100 kW solar power system has been installed on the roof of the Rimi Lietuva logistics centre, while all facility maintenance and utility systems are managed remotely through a building management system (BMS). The building is also equipped with a cooling system, with the generated heat being reused to heat the facility and supply hot water.

Once operational, the new logistics centre will create added value for the entire region, with the Rimi Lietuva facility expected to generate around 800 new jobs in total. Two outdoor leisure areas have been created for employees: a spacious terrace on the second floor and a small park next to the logistics centre.
Solutions for Green Leadership
From the outset of the construction planning process, advanced and environmentally friendly technological solutions were adopted, positioning the Rimi Lietuva logistics warehouse, developed by Darnu Group, as a strong candidate for the BREEAM Excellent sustainability certification. This distinction is awarded to only a small number of projects of this kind each year, and the final steps to secure it are currently in progress.

It is estimated that buildings rated Excellent can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 30% compared with standard modern buildings. In addition, buildings that achieve this level of certification incur lower energy costs compared to non-certified buildings.
This translates into lower operating costs and a faster return on investment.
The official opening of the logistics centre is scheduled for this summer. Work is currently in progress to install the building’s internal systems.
This logistics centre is not the first bespoke project completed by Darnu Group. Previous projects include the Vilniaus duona bakery and logistics centre commissioned by the Finnish company Vaasan, the Apranga administrative building with an integrated logistics centre, Ąžuolyno Klinika, and two military towns delivered through public–private partnerships in the Vilnius and Šilalė districts.
The portfolio also features police stations with detention facilities in Vilnius City and Panevėžys County.
