„The questions were answered – obviously, there were no clarifications or additional questions from the floor. Naturally, having the Chairman of the ruling party on the rostrum was a political success, and attempts were made to exploit this. I tried to answer as much as possible before this action – to make my answers known to the public and the media, and all the positions were known. As far as it is obligatory, I have presented it, and the rest is political boxing,“ Landsbergis told the media after answering the parliamentarians' questions from the Seimas rostrum.
However, when journalists asked whether he could produce correspondence or contracts with real estate companies to make it clearer that housing in Greece was indeed sought before the war, the Minister assured them that he would not do so.
„I'm not going to provide anything else – it seems to me that what I have said, you understand that there is a preparatory period to buy real estate, so just remember the dates, and it will become clear to you,“ he urged.
According to him, buying a second home abroad is linked to only one thing – the coronavirus period.
„If we are making a lifestyle here, you must be wondering – it was simply a quarantine. Many people were looking for a second home, just as we were looking for a second home where we could spend our holidays. It's a big story,“ said the Conservative leader.
According to Landsbergis, these and similar stories and „absurd“ questions are not just being asked in the public sphere before the elections.
„What do you think it is? Is it just that suddenly, a few weeks before the elections, journalists became extremely curious about a story from 2019?“ – Landsbergis asked, complaining that a media outlet had now also remembered another old story.
„It's not the first day I work, it's not the first day you work, and it's not the first time we see stories that appear before the elections. Everything is in order—we have survived before, and we will survive now,“ said the Foreign Minister.
Landsbergis, who has been questioned about the family's purchase of a villa on a Greek island, said that the Seimas opposition's insinuations and accusations are „demagogically manipulative.“
The Conservative leader believes that some of the questions raised are insulting to him and his relatives.
„The insinuations and accusations made in the questions are completely untrue, unfounded and incorrect, and demagogically manipulative,“ Landsbergis said from the rostrum of the Parliament's Plenary Session Hall, answering questions from the minority.
