„On March 11, the Freedom Party is convening a general convention, which will mark the end of my term as party chairman, „Raskevičius announced on Facebook on Thursday.
„I sincerely thank the fantastic Freedom Party community for helping me strengthen this party that believes in a free and progressive Lithuania. Although the last few years have not been the easiest, we have done very well – the backbone of the Freedom Party has not only remained intact, but has become even stronger,“ he said.
Raskevičius noted that he clearly sees his task as rallying democratic forces in the upcoming local elections.

On Wednesday, Vilnius City Deputy Mayor and Freedom Party Deputy Chairman Mitalas announced that he would seek to lead the Libertarians.
ELTA reminds us that the Freedom Party was founded in the summer of 2019. The initiators of the new liberal political movement were Aušrinė Armonaitė and the then Mayor of Vilnius, Remigijus Šimašius, who left the Liberal Movement due to disagreements with the leadership.
In the 2020 Seimas elections, the Freedom Party won 11 seats.
After the Seimas elections, the centre-right ruling coalition was formed by the Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democrats (TS-LKD), the Liberal Movement, and the Freedom Party.
In 2024, the Freedom Party was not elected to the Seimas.
After losing in the Seimas elections in the single-member constituency for Lithuanians abroad, the former leader of the Freedom Party, Aušrinė Armonaitė, announced her resignation as party chair. Raskevičius was later elected to this position.
