„Speaking on this very subject, albeit from a slightly different angle, was (US General Alexus Grynkewich, Supreme Allied Commander Europe – ELTA) yesterday when he presented NATO’s plan on how to respond to Russia’s military actions, including hybrid operations. If we were to look at this carefully and read it through, we would see that the response will be very, very significant for Russia,“ Skaisgirytė told Žinių Radijas on Tuesday.
Tusk warned of possible Russian hybrid attacks against Ukraine’s allies, using drones or even missiles. Speaking in the Polish parliament in Warsaw, he stated that, according to intelligence reports, ‘Russia’s plan’ includes ‘hybrid attacks’ against countries supporting Ukraine, which is under attack by Russia. This reportedly applies to Poland as well.
In recent months, fears have intensified that the Kremlin is stepping up its activities in Europe, following a series of high-profile incidents, including the discovery of a drone carrying explosives at a German airport.
Mr Grynkewich said that NATO allies, having evidence, should immediately name Russia as the responsible party and make it clear to Moscow that it cannot cross certain lines.
NATO emphasises that it is an exclusively defensive organisation which does not seek to invade Russia.
Mr Grynkewich pointed out that, should a large-scale attack occur, NATO would take decisive action to halt the adversaries and, if necessary, destroy their capacity to continue fighting.
Russia’s activities are intensifying as the allies prepare for a possible reduction in US forces in Europe, as the US administration reviews the deployment of its forces on the continent.
The results of this process are expected to be announced at the end of the year.
