The Ministry of Justice announced this on Thursday.
It informed the Kaunas Regional Court of the Belarusian Prosecutor General’s Office's decision.
In August, following a request from the Kaunas Regional Court, the Ministry of Justice initiated the extradition proceedings against Kandrotas. It formally approached the Belarusian Prosecutor General’s Office regarding his extradition to Lithuania.

„Lithuania is seeking to ensure that Kandrotas serves the custodial sentence imposed on him, and all necessary measures have been taken to this end. The European Arrest Warrant issued makes it possible to arrest the individual once he is on the territory of the European Union or its partner countries,“ says Martynas Dobrovolskis, Deputy Minister of Justice.
On 29 June 2026, the Kaunas Regional Court issued a European Arrest Warrant against Kandrotas.
The Lithuanian authorities are seeking to ensure that Kandrotas serves the custodial sentence imposed by the Kaunas Regional Court.
The Lithuanian citizen left for Belarus earlier this year.
On 16 September, the Vilnius Regional Court, having heard the appeal in the case concerning the 2021 riots outside the Seimas, ruled that Kandrotas-Celofanas remains guilty of participating in the riots and sentenced him to four years’ imprisonment. This court ruling is final.
